Our History
In 1976, Relief Nursery opened its doors in Oregon, offering a comprehensive family support program. Following Oregon’s 33-year success, Relief Nursery of Collin County was established in Collin County to transform families long before children are neglected, choose to run away, are placed in the courts system or are forced to become part of the foster care system.
Relief Nursery’s model attempts to work with families in a preventive mode to minimize the advent of children being put at risk at all. Relief Nursery empowers vulnerable families by demonstrating positive parenting techniques with tools like our “therapeutic early childhood classroom,” parenting classes, home visitation services, and other support.

In 2007, a group of concerned Collin County citizens formed an Advisory Board including but not limited to Children’s Advocacy Center, CITY House, CPS, Collin College, Family Outreach, Collin County Association for the Education of Young Children and community volunteers to bring the Relief Nursery programs to Collin County.
The programs offered by Relief Nursery of Collin County are at no cost to our families.
Relief Nursery of Collin County complements the existing organizations by focusing on prevention. By collaborating with the leaders of these successful programs, we can avoid expensive duplication of services and, most importantly, add the crucial early intervention and prevention services that are lacking.
